The fact that at one point in the story he moved away to Wakanda for a once-in-a-lifetime scholarship where he could have moved on and worked on self-improvement and possibly getting himself a qt ebony gf, and then just randomly moved back home to his shitty school and his shitty emotional tampon role feels like a deliberate and even malicious editorial mandate
