What actually was the deal with this series? Did Fox/Groening actually threaten to sue Nick over it because of a "similar" concept/character design or was that just Internet rumor?

I remember this cartoon was significant to me since I was a Navy brat who lived in Japan from 2004-2010 so I knew what being an American in Japan was like
Shame that Viacom pushed what was going to be an adult show with the concept on MTV to a kids show on Nick though, it's clear that the people who made it were anime fans
