Thor being turned into a woman in an alternate universe, or a female character getting the powers of Thor, have both been done before and no one complained. The difference is all about how it's presented and handled. Unlike what came before, Jane-Thor was an obnoxious shitshow that spat in the face of every single fan of Thor as both a character and a franchise.>>108343201
Sif, Brunhilde, Tarene, there's a bunch of characters that would have been better suited. Sif's solo was great, even though it was axed prematurely in favour of relaunching yet another shitty Carol book that no one liked.
But even if a more appropriate character was used, presentation matters. Sif or Valkyrie getting the powers of Thor is all well and good, but if either one of them were pushed as being "actually Thor now! Fuck off, Odinson!" with Thor himself being a pathetic loser who could only wish to be as good a Thor as them, they would have been just as reviled as Jane-Thor.>>108345784
BRB wouldn't hit those sweet, sweet progressive points that Captain Marvel does, and they probably thought no one would take "Horse Thor" seriously. I think it's for the best that he's relegated to easter egg status only.
