I've seen people lamenting the end of "event" television with the end of Game of Thrones, and all I can think is, why? There's no "rule" that says shows have to be shitted out all at once now. But that's just how Netflix does it and they're making a lot of money so that must be the "right" way, even though it leads to lower viewer engagement and a greater number of lower quality shows in the end. And it doesn't give lesser-known, but high quality shows the chance to slowly build a following.
I don't know. I guess I'm just getting old (29 years, ancient I know). But I can't stand the binge/bomb format. In the past the social aspect, having a week to talk with people about them most recent episode, was often almost as enjoyable (if not moreso) as the show itself for me.
