Because they have taken the concept of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" way past what it was ever meant to mean. They don't believe in any sort of reality independent of themselves nor any objective basis for beauty. They believe the idea of beauty is purely cultural, with no biological basis, and that it can be changed by force through repeated exposure. Ultimately they think they can eliminate the idea of anything being ugly by desensitizing people to ugly things.
But the fact is that healthier faces are more attractive and even newborn babies can identify them and spend more time looking at them than ugly faces. Beauty is something our brains are hardwired to identify, and they're trying to "fix" with social engineering.
