To answer the question, the only good Bat-book in a long time was Busiek's Elsewords story that didn't even get a last issue for some reason.

Shit sucks. Asides from Red Hood and Grayson I haven’t bothered to read or pick up any bat titles since nu52. Didn’t really care for a lot Snyder’s stuff either. I just think Bruce is super boring and isn’t written as an interesting character. Stuff pumped out in the 70’s and 80’s is super fun though.

Battle For The Cowl really fucked the Bat Titles for a while back then too.

But yeah, Tim became his own character, he didn't need Batman to stand out. Shame it's all gone now.

Yeah everything that was being set up was fucking rad. Years of suppressed character growth for these characters that can’t do shit if Bruce is around. I actually thought Tim was interesting for once. Damian grooming Terry in 700. Just a goddamn shame. I wonder how that entire Morrison run sold in comparison to nu52 to present?

I don't think Bruce necessarily has to be dead or gone for the rest of the family to grow. The issue is editorial will never let the family grow outside of Bruce. Batman Inc. showed the family could evolve with Bruce, but for some reason DC is afraid to let Bruce Wayne move on beyond the same story.
