i dont like the movies or tv shows surrounding superheroes in general, because they take liberties from the source material, which i understand, but dont like. id rather read a comic book where the writers and artists can do stuff with no budget that is impossible, or too """"comic book-y""""" for a movie. i wish the blu-ray or digital copies of movies came with either a a number 1 of the current run of that character, or a code to read the comics online or whatever. im in an arrow-verse discussion group on facebook, and people are all excited for crisis, but ask basic questions about it, because they havent read any DC or refuse to read comics. crisis is a shitty place to start as a new reader though
i also think people fall for the continuity meme, where they are too intimated to start a series at any issue another than 1, because they think they have to read the hundreds of issues that came before it. i mean shit, DC put something like 'this is the perfect place to start reading superman!" on the trade paper back of bendis' run on action comics. which started at 1001. i just want more people to read the comics themselves, and not watch the shitty shows and movies, because they arent the best representation of the characters or story lines.
tl;dr comics should be more popular
