For what I see, the show takes inspiration from a lot of versions of this team, but it also likes to repeat the formula that Gerard Way usually used with his Doom Patrol run:
>Grab the reader attention by showing some dumb shit.>Once you have the reader at your hand, you show them story, development, etc.Done wrong, it can fuck up your series or movie really, really bad. Somehow, that's not the case with Doom Patrol, since that with every Joke/comedy scene, we have an equal dramatic/serious scene following that one.
Besides, you're trying to say that you don't like the show's humor because it's not "Muh Morrison Doom Patrol"? Imagine if I said that I dislike Burton's Batman because it's not like the Adam West TV Show.
