>>107608949That's what everyone always builds it up to be, but I heard that it's only grimdark because that's what everyone focuses on. Apparently, plenty of planets and factions are doing well enough. The Imperium of Man doesn't care how you run your planet as long as you pay your taxes and hail the Emperor, and there are planets where everything evil is far away from them. The Tau are shady, but living standards is significantly better. Farsight Enclaves are just Tau but nicer and better if you can believe it. It really depends where you are since 40k is so huge.
If you really think about it, the reason things are bad is because everything is so large in number. It's like if you only looked at warzones, third world issues and tragedies in real life, you'd think everything is all doom and gloom when it's all you look at and ignore the quiet suburban 1st world neighborhoods that exist. After all, all those warriors going into literal hellscapes to fight off demonic entities are fighting for something, they're protecting humanity. Hope and love does exist in 40k within every faction. That's why it can be damn tragic at times.
