The first film tackled him wanting to be an Avenger since the event of Civil War, and he wants more of that because he believes he's ready for it, but he's also way over his head that he forgot his other responsibilities that he ignored what matters. The first scene of him as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man perfectly shows where his responsibilities are. Just doing what he can with what he got, but he's also reckless. The thing here is you're thinking differently on what kind of a position the MCU version and comic version are. Situations are different and they need to be realistic about it and not make it obvious. I mean can a high school kid today really work for a newspaper by taking photos?
