>>107102246Yes, unironically. I find him one of the most relatable characters if you take things into context.
>inb4 rich genius playboySure, in our universe. But in his universe, he’s nothing supremely special. There are supergenius Kings out there who are also top martial artists and wizards. There are people far richer than him. There are people actual Gods that put his looks to shame. If you think about it, in-universe he is sort of an every man. He’s just a guy good at one thing who has some cash and tries to make the best of it.
For me what makes him relatable is his character though, not his “abilities”. He’s prone to addiction, he’s insecure, he has bouts of self-pitying, hell he’s only a playboy because he’s insecure about himself and wants to prove he’s hot shit. Meanwhile he just wants a ginger mommygf to hug him tight at night. Meanwhile he’s a massive control freak whose obsessions take him to villainy. Pretty much everyone has some variation of those things. But personally I had them all growing up. I was raised pampered and “proper” and then got my ass handed to me. I was always interested in robotics and electronics. I always loved Knights (and also Greek Myths). I always wanted to grow a mustache and be like Tesla, Clark Grable and Vincent Price. There are more but you get the gist of it. Point is, the moment I read an IM book I knew “this is my guy”.
>>107105296>>107106414>>107109238All true. I’m waiting for one or two series to end, but I’m mostly done with this “hobby”. Honestly, I sit back and watch all the issues I’ve bought, the tens of thousands of dollars and it all seems so... embarrassing, really. I will always have a soft spot for a few characters and runs, but now that I see these things for what they truly are, I’m disgusted I let my obsession get this far. It’s high time I devoted all my free time to personal growth and some actual hobbies that build character.
