Pretty much this, but it's worse than just that. It's not just tumblr that's been antsier about what kind of content they allow, it's everywhere. Facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc. have started clamping down on lots of different shit. Fuck, we even have a push for making this family-friendly "4channel."
Porn of shows for kids, especially if the characters are or could be underage or farm animals, is on an early and safe tier to BTFO of. Which I get and I find loli and furry shit really fucking disgusting, but you do start to get into an uncomfortable area of thought policing and who is doing it, so who knows what the fuck will happen.
One thing that's clear, though: for now, it's safer for artist who want to make a professional name to avoid lewds altogether. And yeah that was always true to an extent but if we're honest people are way more sensitive and prone to overreaction now than in the past. It makes sense to be nervous.
