I don't think anyone has made much reference to his heritage.
You have things like his suit from Blood Moon and the nachos but that's the extent of it.
It's weird to have monster be metaphor for mix race when you have a legit mixed race as the lead but not surprising at this point.

Framing as in the fact that back in Seasons 1 and 2 whenever Star made a mistake or did something stupid or acted immature it'd play out at face value. Like the banana split thing, the Season 1 finale, Face the Music.
Season 3 onwards the show would have Star get involved with a bunch of issues like Eclipsa and the Monster-Mewni problems and whenever she didn't succeed, it'd be framed like the world is wrong for not letting her succeed. Flaws and mistakes are instead presented as more so imperfections of the world. Like it's everyone else's fault that you can't put a circle in a square hole. This also means Marco and Tom get degraded as characters for her sake. And then she just gives Eclipsa the kingdom. The fact that this is a mistake is practically laughed off. Tone is all over the place now.

The decompression is a problem because too little of the plot/lore is delivered at a time. Compare this to Season 2 where we got entire episodes spent with Ludo for the build up. Season 3 introduced Eclipsa and then very, very slowly unveiled that Heinous was her daughter and that she's the real queen.
It's great to have lore in a show but you can't string along, you're supposed to give more and more in bigger amounts as the world expands, not less.

There was a comment like a thread or two ago where an anon asked if Star's cheeks are supposed to represent where she'd blush and if so, is it wrong when S4 or whatever draws the blush on top of them. A few anons said yes.

THIS IS FALSE.

Star has been drawn blushing on top of her hearts since literally Season 1, pic related-- the more purple blush lines are on top of the hearts there. The marks CAN light up red when a character is incredibly turned on, such as Eclipsa during the trial or Star in Running with Scissors, but in general when a character is blushing, the blush extends over the mark because it's just part of their skin. It's like how Star's marks can temporarily turn into stop signs or other things: the blushing red is just a separate effect from normal blushing.

It's understandable to think the hearts represent cartoon rosy cheeks because of their color being somewhat red/flesh-toned, but it's just coincidence considering other characters like Dirhhennia, Solaria, etc. show that the marks can come in a variety of colors. S3 and S4 fucked up a lot of things, but blushing over the hearts is something that's been done since the very beginning of the show and isn't wrong. The hearts/spades/whatever blushing red on their own isn't wrong too, but it's not the only way the show depicts blushing and seems to be reserved for full-on lust specifically.

The typical pattern is for the hearts, done all the rest of the time, is for them to remain the same color as always and the blush to just cover the hearts along with entire cheek area and/or the rest of the face, the same as it would for normal blushing, because the hearts aren't some weird blush receptor but just a slightly darker area of skin.
