You know what the biggest warning signs were for this movie? The fact that a lot more people were talking about Sam Jackson and the cat more than the title character herself. Brie Larson was barely serviceable, even though she had the benefit of mostly just having action scenes rather than a whole lot of dialogue, but even then, she's really miscast in this film.
The CGI was really hit or miss in this movie, even more than in Black Panther. There's this fight scene with Nick Fury and I couldn't keep my eyes off of just how Jackson looked like a glazed Krispy Kreme donut with all that de-aging going on. Worst part is, the actual fight was really bad because he could barely move, seeing as he's 70 fucking years old. You're telling me that they had him do that choreography and yet almost everything with Brie Larson was done with a stunt double that's clearly a lot larger and muscular than her?
It's the weakest Marvel movie, all of the other ones tend to have something unique to them or a genre to lend to and here it's just a typical action movie with "hey you remember this???" nostalgic undertones at best. At least with Iron Man 3, they tried to do something bold and failed, here, it's like they tried to do as little as possible and still failed to get me hyped for Endgame. This movie was just filling in all the missing plot details from all the other movies while simultaneously trying to build up a character almost no one has any familiarity with. It stinks.
