>>106262042Why not? First of all you should always actually try read a review instead of just glancing at a score to decide whether it's genuine or corrupted. Secondly, when i say reviewers can be trusted i don't mean they have the last word on whether the product it's good or not. To make an example Ang Lee's Hulk movie is one of my favourites, but it was rejected by a good chunk of the press. Do i start crying about how all the journos were lying to me or some shit? Of course not, my opinion is mine and theirs is theirs
But right now you're arguing that fake opinions made purposefully to manipulate or to make arguments that don't actually concern the movie are a true sign of a movie's quality? How? Especially when in this case the shitflinging started before anyone could even see the movie
Like, shit, another example, there's this indie horror game made in Taiwan called Detention, it was well received by critics and audience alike. But a few days ago i stumble on it's Steam page and notice that suddenly the users score said "mostly negative". I investigate out of curiosity and apparently all the negative reviews were coming from Chinese players bitching about politics, and more specifically they were complaining about a "the leader looks like Winnie Pooh" joke that was in a different game by the same devs - it wasn't even about Detention, the users were bitching there because the other game's Steam page was temporarily down
And so right now you're arguing i should just blindly accept at first glance that "mostly negative" judgement? Even though it's due to comments that have nothing to do with the actual product they're supposedly trying to review?
