>>106129666I'm raised Christian and from a young age these guys did nothing but horrify me on a visceral level or annoy me.
I found the voice acting to be excruciating as a kid which is why it was annoying to me. When they sang it only got worse and the "silly" aspects were overshadowed by why I found them scary:
As a little kid I thought a world where vegetables and fruit are the apex life-form meant that Humans were completely swapped with the plants. People, in my head, grew on vines and trees as soulless bodies. The giant mouthed main characters would then messily eat the bodies. Parents in this world would have to force their children to eat Nerds or they wouldn't get any Cheerleaders.
I would tell that to every kid I met through the church. Thankfully it tended to make more friends who found me kooky than enemies.
But I meant my fear. Those wide soulless cgi knockoff Sonic the Hedgehog eyes genuinely unnerve me. When Drawn Together parodied and subsequentially brutally murdered them I laughed more hard than I had in a while.
