>>106080786This is true, I'm rereading Bendis' first issue and all I know about Miles is he just doesn't want to go to that private school, and he hangs out with his uncle whom his parents feel might be a bad influence. He's scared of the powers he gets, but we see him using his invisibility and venom blast already. There's concepts there but the execution is lacking.
Spider-Verse Miles, we see him share the same traits, but they unfold in interesting ways. Miles doesn't want to be at the school and tries his hardest to get out of it (by deliberately choosing the wrong answers, but that makes the teacher realize he knows the right answers). We also learn that he's interested in graffiti art, which informs a lot of the things he does and even makes his costume even more distinct. The invisibility and venom blast are used as things he has to learn to master and have a character arc as a result.
