So far Dark Magic only shows needing body parts or animals. No difference from hunting them for food anyways.
Dark Magic has been show doing more good things than Primal Magic, including saving lives, feeding thousands, curing the lame to walk, etc etc. Sure some weaponized uses of Dark Magic is used, but even then sometimes they look worse than they actually are. Like those snakes? Look scary as fuck but all they do is tie people up. Nonlethal, not painful.
Meanwhile Primal Magic has been shown almost exclusively as weapons. Tools for Assassins, illusions even quoted to break human minds to the point of insanity, shooting lightning at dudes, and even superheating swords to be like lightsabers to more easily murder people.
So unless they state later on that Dark Magic opens a portal to the Elder Gods, or it actually sucks out the soul of a creature and not just the magic, then no. Dark Magic is not Dark.
