I honestly really like what Marvel did post ROTJ. Unlike a lot of projects they weren't afraid to actually develop the original trilogy characters like giving Luke a new costume or second lightsaber, or having Han face his original mentor and friend in combat. Marvel Star Wars was basically everything the EU should be in that it was constantly coming up with new ships, new aliens, and new non-imperial enemies.

This is just the starting point. Disney have only had Star Wars for 5 years and they're already starting to dip into making more Legends stuff. Give it another 5 and they'll announce a full on continuation of that continuity or something

I'm cautiously optimistic on this. On one hand, it'll be nice to see if this will lead to more Legends stuff being done. On the other hand, this is modern Marvel and Disney Wars, so I'm halfway convinced this might end up being some kind of exaggerated parody of Legends (that's why Jaxxon is there) as a way of saying 'Look at how silly and stupid this old Legends stuff is compared to our modern, woke superior Disney Star Wars!'

I'm kind of disappointed that they haven't tried to do some kind cgi series or movies of the Thrawn Trilogy. It probably wouldn't take that much tweaks to make it fit in the new Canon (just take the basic outline of Thrawn returns from where ever he was to rally the Imperial remnants in one last offensive against the New Republic). It'd be a nice way to give the OT heroes a last hurrah before the ST shits on them, and gives Thrawn a better end than being shunted off to nowhere by fucking Space Whales.

"Growing up, my older brother read Fantastic Four and X-Men and I would steal his copies when he went out, but the original Marvel Star Wars comics were the first comics I ever collected myself," Rosenberg shared with ComicBook.com. "Those books were so important to me in developing my love of comics. I'd go to the comic shop every week and dig around in the back issues in hopes of adding another missing issue to my collection. When it all would get to be too much, my mom would take me to a local comic con to find other issues for me as a way of shutting me up. I'm proud to say that I have the complete run in singles issues still."

He added, "It's hard to explain now what the original series meant to me as a kid. We didn't have all these amazing video games, and novels, and prequels, and sequels, and spinoffs. There were a few novels, the Ewok movies, and these comics. And these comics gave me the impossible, the chance to spend more time with my favorite characters. I couldn't believe I could walk into a store and give them a few bucks and walk out with even more adventures of Leia, Luke, Chewie, Han, Artoo, and Threepio. It felt magical to me then, and honestly, those comics still feel that way to me today."
