Yeah my first thought was immediately "giving birth to her own rapist" but Marvel rightfully swept THAT hot mess under the rug. The thing is, in the comics I think they COULD have found a good one in Carol struggling with her decision to go full Big Brother in Civil War but they've never really shown her doubting those enough to make reparations instead of doubling down. And it's irrelevant to the MCU anyway since Civil War came and went (far, far better than it did in the comics I must say, for all the criticism I've leveled at the MCU in the past) without Carol showing up.
The amnesia thing really is awkward, because if Mar-Vell is a factor they'd likely be reliant on flashbacks->>105895252
-or this, ugh. Dammit, now I'm having Mandarin flashbacks. If I had to pin a beginning of the end to the MCU I'd pinpoint the HARD backdown on whether Killian is the real Mandarin or not.>>105895149
I like this idea. The problem is, I also think it would be reliant on putting Carol in more crossover movies after her debut and Infinity War. But that valley girl attitude getting shut down at every corner by people who've learned what's really important could legitimitely be a solid arc.
