>>105712343I really think Sugar did a great job with many aspects of the series. SU shows healthy socialization and relationship building that many of us never really got that as kids. Steven is a happy-go-lucky kid that people naturally are fond of and he helps them overcome many of their more jaded attitudes. Many of them have unhealthy relationships in their lives and Steven helps them overcome them.
Lars tries too hard to fit in and he comes off as a douche.
Sadie has an overbearing mom that stifles her confidence in being independent.
Kiki doesn't communicate that she needs her own time and her sister, Jenny, unwittingly takes advantage of it.
Ronaldo is an autist that takes things too far.
Peedee is the younger brother that has to grow up too fast to compensate for his older brother's lack of responsibility.
Sour Cream has a dead-beat father and doesn't have much in common with his step-dad.
Steven serves as a catalyst to help them resolve these issues and better communicate with each other. It likely doesn't stick out as much to the average adult, but those lessons are extremely useful for children still trying to fit in with the rest of the world and overcome their insecurities to be decent people. It's wholesome as fuck.
