Compare Bugs' proportions in season 1 to some of his earliest cartoons, such as Hare-um Scare-um and Elmer's Candid Camera. They're very similar; bigger feet, bigger head, bigger pupils in the eyes; notably smaller body.
Porky, too, with his different shaped ears in season 1 wasn't just different, he was different in a way that suggested his look in the late 1930s, right after he stopped being fat.
Season 2 brought the characters more in line with the 1990s designs.
