there's a lot of balancing acts in getting better cartoons onto screens, like for example everyone needs to know what they're doing, and the production process needs to be functional. animaniacs was supposed to be a wild cartoon that patterned itself after looney tunes, so hire somebody that was taught by its biggest critic, that's sensible.
at the end of the day people who got seriously mad about critique back in the 00's were probably just people with weird neverland mentalities who were upset that their bad ideas about how cartoons work got ruined by people like me, with a lot of serious passion for animation. i also consider myself a protege of john k, but i think my good philosophy inspires better art, so i post about it a lot instead of settling down to make a simple series
