>>105389021My first job when I was a teenager, I only got because my mother drove me to a fast food restaurant, and ordered me to go inside and fill out an application form. They interviewed and hired me on the spot. When that job started to get unbearable, I started looking for help wanted signs in local restaurant windows, and would go in to apply. It wasn’t easy because it made me anxious, but it was worth it to push myself. Not much has changed since then in my method to job of acquisition, except my resume just keeps getting longer, and now I can refer to craigslist and online application and the like. Sometimes friends refer me to jobs. My most recent job, I really wanted, so I just kept applying whenever I saw they were hiring til they took me. I only recently got it about a month ago, so I’ll wait and see how it turns out.
There was a period of about a year, though, when I was unemployed and each application I filled just got harder and harder. It was tough, I felt unwanted, and it just made me more anxious. It’s important not to give up, though. And sometimes I’ve settled for shit jobs I hated just to have something.
