>>105344924I love that this movie completely commited to the New York urban lifestyle. the sticker tagging, the graffiti, the Hip Hop soundtrack, the art style... all of it. I fully expect this to do shit sales in the middle US, where people have no idea what a Magnet school is, why Miles has his mother's last name instead of his father's, or a dozen other urban lifestyle references. Yeah... this movie gos pretty deep, for a cartoon about superheroes.
I love how every guy in Mile's life is there to teach him and cheer him on. I love how his dad strikes the right balance of hardass and loving parent. Especially when you get a little glimpse of how hard is for him to even figure out what he is supposed to be doing, as a father. I love how Peter is a fuckup, but still rises above to help this kid he barely knows.
like, this movie is a huge advertisement for fatherhood. you rarely see men being this emotionally open and vulnerable, in any kind of media. There are a lot of stories with men as father figures, but this one just felt a lot more real. I think its because Miles felt so real.
