From all that, it seems to me that he's the "GI Joe" type of a guy. He doesn't like Fantasy, but he likes King Arthur's Knights because they were that time's soldiers, although idealized. He doesn't like Star Trek, but likes Kirk because he's a womanizing soldier yet still romanticized. And if you take into account his actions and politics and stuff, he's the type of guy who watches 24 and Mad Men, with some hard sci-fi like Expanse thrown in. He loves Troy and other Historical Epics, but probably isn't a fan of Outlander. If he plays vidya, he's into Metal Gear or the Tom Clancy stuff; maybe some Halo or Mass Effect. His favorite movie is Citizen Kane and he has seen all of Yes, Minister. You see where I'm going with this?
Generally he comes across as "that uncle who works in the White House". He listens to Sinatra and laments about the "old Hollywood". It's generally the kind of vibe I get from him. He's not really a person I can imagine sitting down and enjoying escapism in any form. He's very "feet firmly on the ground". And I think it's a bit of a nice touch, how he's a "futurist", yet has very "realistic" and old-fashioned tastes.
