You are conflating a sociable and friendly approach to interaction with an inability to fend for yourself.
If being on the internet should have taught you anything, then it should be that girly behavior in adult women is an affectation for the most part, that serves a social function of easing tension and garnering sympathy.
While it is certainly true that many women are simply not interested in or capable of going heroic, neither are most men.
This however does not mean they could not be serious about serious matters.

Really, it's all a question of proper motivation and the right personality type. Both of which are set by default for a protagonist. Had Sarah Connor been slow, dull and weak, Terminator would have been a short movie. Although she certainly has severe limitations in the first movie because she is after all a waitress, not specops.
