>>105041951I don't see why. Just went out to see this with a friend. Both she and I disliked it, and neither of us are capeshit shills.
Bear in mind that I usually like shitty shit. If someone says a movies shit I'll go "n'ah it was good. Not the best but good."
The romance was cringey as fuck.
The humor was sooooo fucking forced. Fuck. It felt like humor made by executives to be as popular as those funny maymay Marvel movies.
Aquaman Arthur was kind of annoying. He was like...
Bear with me on this. He's like that badass character you make to be your main character in the first fan fiction you write. Not quite a mary sue, but intolerable none the less.
The writing was meh. First it's a superhero movie, then it's a fantastical story to visit a new world, then it's an Around The World quest, then it's a fucking LOTR movie with the giant battle between the three armies?
And the fuck is with that conclusion? The villain gets away and is not such a bad guy, except for the straight up murder we've seen him do on screen to the Fisherman king and the implied murder of many Brine and Fishermen that reaaallllly didn't want to get involved with his shit?
Villain was cringier than Arthur by the by, what with his "triumphant roars" sounding terrible.
Weird focus on his Mom and Dad at beginning and end, for the role they actually played in the movie it felt excessive.
Black Manta was CRIMINALLY underused and the character felt shitty.
I'll give it an average because the fight scenes and visuals were fucking excellent. I loved the design of the city, the creatures, and the sheer imagination put into everything. Just wish the acting and writing could keep up with it.
