Meaning that by the time the boy from the castle was hitting 30, the hatchlings from the rookery were only just becoming children. Granted, it also helped that time on Avalon is even slower, and thus why the thousand years that passed was only like 40 or so years to the likes of the survivors from the castle.
To put it even more into perspective, Brooklyn gets lost in time for roughly 40 years, aging him 20 years in gargoyle-years, enough to have sired one child with the mate he finds along the way, with a second about to hatch.
