No leader wants to "stop all immigration" though, not even Trump. Hell, Baby Bush wanted to streamline the process. And the Environment is a bit of a catch 22, as there is no realistic alternative to fossil fuels aside from nuclear(yet). Still, there could be better regulations concerning other areas of environmental protection, but ironically all the practical programs are mostly supported by conservative voters, if not always by conservative leaders.
The social safety programs are unsustainable in their current form, but you're absolutely right that nobody's offering a workable alternative. You've got a good point about the debt too. Some debt is actually a good thing but it's clear that this is and has been a total runaway train.
