>>104820692https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ElfwoodElfwood was cool. It had three sections - Fantasy art, Sci-fi art and a pure text site. One of the problems it has was that it initially had a strict "original content only" policy. That is, fanart was restricted to 25% of a person's total art output for any gallery. Sometime later, they had a fanquarter site. But Elfwood basically had a lot of restrictions, and the gallery nature of it was hard to navigate. But think about it, there's some nostalgia in remembering fanatsy and sci-fi art, made in early 2000s html. It was a very different time.
But the same casual nature that made Deviantart easier to upload, as well as its less stringent rules, was why it won out. Plus it had llamas. Still, and towards its later years, I remember that some /tg/ artists maintained their only gallery on elfwood - I guess the unique nature of Lothlorian was that, as a fantasy art-only gallery, you get what youa re looking for. No fanart, only original content.
But that is all gone now.
