Screentime was divvied up between Keith, Lance, Hunk, Shiro, Allura, Pidge, Coran, Shota!Lotor, Honerva, Young!Zarkon, Zombie!Zarkon, Alfor, Blaytz and the other original paladins, Kinkade, Veronica, Sam, Pidge's mum, the other fighter pilots, Slav, Ezor, Zethrid, Acxa, that galran general dude, the monster on that ship, the religious freak Alteans, the list just never ends. The only graceful way to handle a cast that large is to leave the majority of them in the background, and unfortunately that happened with the main characters instead. Except Allura.
That being said it's hard to juggle even 6 main characters and most of the show did that fine.
