It’s beginning to look a lot like /co/hristmas.
The days grow colder, the nights grow longer. That means /co/ Christmas cheer is coming to town. Grab some cocoa, turn on the Christmas music, get comfy, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.
As previous years, share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. Be sure to gift another Anon in return so we can spread the cheer far and wide.
Last year we had 180 gifted anons, some more than once.

They are now sending people cards advertising prime video implying people already have prime so they may as well use it. I don't know if that works but it exists.
>>104616965 Don't you know it's 2018 and you're not allowed to like things I don't like!? That's how you find good movie reviewers as well. Find someone who agrees with you most the time and then follow them. People except neutral opinions on everything and it's just dumb. I don't want a neutral reviewer who gives everything a fair chance, I want someone like me to do the leg work so I can be lazy and skip sorting through hundreds of things I would never like. I don't care how good a romantic comedy is to a neutral person, I won't like it and I don't need it recommending to me.

>>104616965 >Also since I'm still the same guy asking for recs It still depends on what you like. For example, Vertigo is an entire line of books, and even some older stories (like Sandman, or the Book of Magic) are still great stories although some people might find the art old fashioned and dated depending on when you started reading and your art tastes. As far as the straight forward Super Hero genre, I really enjoyed reading 52 in their collected versions even though I wasn't familiar with all the nooks and crannies of what was going on then because it's a really fun series, something simpler would be the Lords of Luck by Waid collection or the JLI collections.

13PS00JXPB35S .com.mx >>104619920 I dont think I have any. Christmas day is a day that lets the city be lazy after the Nochebuena dinner. The closer I think would be a mexican movie called "My First Communion" about a kid that wishes nothing but his very own Communion suit for his first eucharist and his dad that tries to do the impossible to get it for him. I might be remembering it wrong, but It reminds me of Christmas while at the same time not because theres an emphasis on the Three Wise Men day and how the dad could just give him a toy truck.

It was intentional to sound smug. Only way to deal with kids with no idea about adulthood talking non-sense. His argument amounts to "if someone likes coffee more than tea you can't listen to their movie recommendations. You should be unique". It's non-sense of the highest caliber. >>104622159 >>104622530 >Then why do you speak English? You're imitating someone else's style. The English language is a learned and essential form of communication written, spoken, and expressed in many ways. It's not a "style", it is a necessity for understanding someone else who exclusively understands the language. Style implies that you put your own spin on it, like a turn of phrase or accent, which everyone has, but it doesn't fall under the generalization of the basic concept itself. It's more accurate to say "English is derivative, as is everyone who speaks in this derivative language". Tarzan did not learn English through a style, he read it in a dictionary and copied down "the squiggles" for years and picked up on understanding written language, one of the basic pillars of understanding others. Copying or imitating is a bit of a stretch too. If everyone who came over to America in 1620 onwards copied the people who originally had English accents to a "t", then the American accent would never have existed, right? It's not an imitation then, it's also a derivative.
Anon was just giving friendly advice to not trust every single word a reviewer with similar taste says, because you may end up missing out on something you really might enjoy. Even on the same topic you will never find someone you agree with 100% unless you're willing to just roll over and accept their opinion as your own -- it's unhealthy to take things at face value without experience. There's no need to be a dick about practical advice, especially when we're all buddies here.
>Stop being a hipster and realize we're all copying something else. You're not unique, you're not special and you sure as fuck don't know what a man is. You should read up on material about the Human Condition -- as well as the Ego, and Superego when you get the chance. It really helps discerning what cognition and independent thought is since you're a bit confused about it.
I hope this helps, friend!

>>104622881 I'm well versed in those topics. They're not relevant here. We have a snow flake claiming to be unique. I pointed out even the way his brain works is not unique.
My point wasn't to follow someone blindly, I never stated it was. I said find a reviewer who's bias on the topic line up with your own. You can find multiple reviewers and cross reference them the same way. Follow them all on youtube and have a feed of reviewers you share a general bias with.
We're getting way off topic but everyone takes others opinions and accepts them as their own. I've never drank rat poison but it's the opinion of someone who's studied it that drinking it is fatal. I will take his opinion and not test it for myself. The foundation of society is taking past opinions and building off of them.
Tarzan is a poor example BTW. If you want to debate philosophy don't use fictional characters. It makes you look bad.

Anon said that you shouldn't be a sheep and form your own opinions and you sperged out because how dare he. Even in your point about trashy horror movies you miss the point. To dumb it down for you, even if two people enjoy trashy horror movies, doesn't mean they will both like the same trashy horror movies unless you mean they don't care about quality and just like the genre like plebs, which actually defeats the purpose of listening to someone's opinion since you can just google search lists upon lists of genre fiction. Still, even if both these people enjoy trashy horror movies, one can be a huge sci fi fan but hate fantasy while the other loves fantasy but hates sci fi.
I don't even know why I bother after your english language comment because you obviously seem the type of person that's too proud to admit when you've made a mistake, and like I previously said, you are unintelligent.
I assume you're some youtube reviewer with an average of 80 views per video and that's why you're championing reviewers so hard because in this day and age, reviewers are 99% trash. And even the 1% that's good will say stupid shit.
>Close the tab, go do something else for a while No, YOU close the tab and stop sperging out in this thread. This thread is not your blog. Go make a separate thread where you impart your sheep philosophies.

Do you guys ever panic around Christmas? Normally I don't worry too much, but this year I seem to be off. I'm telling my family not to get me much, meanwhile I'm trying to get them and my SO stuff they will like and actually find a use for. It's not like any of them will hate their gifts, but a guy can't help but worry, you know? Worse because I bought my girl a Switch because she had been mentioning being interested in Pokemon months ago, but now I'm worried she's going to be upset for spending so much money on her. How do you guys cope with the nerves of this season?

>>104636139 Me and her went to London and fucking loved the food, so if the meme is true IDK
Roger roger
>>104636139 Our foods pretty good, it's just not considered "British" because it went universal. Christmas dinner is all traditional British food and people look forward to that year round.
The meme mostly comes from people used to junk food and too much spices. Spices were traditionally used to cover up the taste of low quality meat and near rotten meat. If you murder your taste buds with super strong tasting powders then you can't appreciate better tasting food. Like McDonalds is so full of crap it warps your sense of taste for a while if you have too much of it.
If you want to try some food British food try baked beans on toast. Track down Heinz baked beans, white bread toasted with a little butter. Pour the beans heated over the toast and tuck in. Simple comfort food but it always hits the spot in the cold weather like now. Spotted dick and treacle pudding are both nice. Most of our deserts are cakes with currants or other dried fruit in them and then custard or cream over the top. We eat like Hobbits eat and when you're used to 15 spices on your taste buds you can't appreciate some fine quality products as much.
It's a lot like the bad teeth meme. British people have some of the best dental care in the world because it's incredibly cheap here. We get our teeth fixed when we have problems with them, but we don't have cosmetic tooth stuff done very often. If one tooth is slightly out of line we tend to ignore it. If teeth are a bit yellowed but no need for any immediate care we will leave it too. If you're used to looking at bleached white ultra straight teeth on TV all day then natural looking teeth come off as bad.
Ask any more questions you want answering. Can't say I'm fond of all of this country but I have a good experience with it.

London isn't part of the UK in any real sense. The same way New York isn't anything like the rest of the US or Tokyo is like the rest of Japan. They're international hubs closer to a traditional trading port than anything around them. I know very few people who don't want to nuke london and call it a day.
>>104636279 Pubs are great if you expect it to be a pub. The food is always good and you get a lot of it for your money. The selection is mostly pies, chips, battered fish, soups and roast dinners. Probably a selection of 25-50 different drinks and big comfy seats to sit back in. I'm not a pub goer myself but there is a homely charm to them carried on from them being the inns of old. You can spend a day in a pub just looking at all the local trinkets they have on the walls.
Village pubs are great. Townies hate them for not being metropolitan enough. They come to the country and expect it to be just like the town then find the locals don't like their snobby attitudes and leave bitchy reviews on Yelp no one reads. Town pubs are sketchy places. They tend to invite the lower classes who have a lot of frustration and alcohol doesn't help. Older clients and a half dead dog wandering around is common.
There are still a few legendary pubs around but they're rare. Working men's clubs had a focus on entertainment as well as drinking. They would be pool halls or hold bingo for the old ladies every few nights. They're community hubs and dearly loved. Most have closed down now as communities are falling apart here. Too many moving in and out, even families are losing contact because of it.
tl;dr Village pubs = excellent if you're not snotty
Town pubs = Go to a bar if you want a quiet drink

No judgement is a crappy meme and you deserve to be bullied for it. Without judgement you can't pick between your childhood sweetheart and a AIDS ridden meth whore to screw. Judgement is sane behaviour and non-judgement is a lie.
>>104636317 Pubs aren't just for alcohol. They serve all kinds of soft drinks. Most pubs are family based and double up as a restaurant. They have kids menus and many of them have a children's play area like a ball pit or games of skittles (think bowling with a wooden frisbee instead of a ball). If you're going to meet an old friend you will go to the village pub and have lunch there. As dumb as it sounds think like D&D inns or your favourite RPG. It's still in those realms.
>>104636521 Tea. Very serious answer. When you make a cup of tea you have to wait, got to wait for the kettle then for the tea to brew. Those 5 minutes of waiting are often enough to get your head straight. Tea is crisis solution drinking. >>104641525 Explaining the wage gap would be considered a hate crime is a woman felt you saying women work less than men was offensive. A hate crime is entirely defined on how someone feels about something, the actual intent of what happened doesn't matter. It's a blanket law that you can't prove you're innocent of because it's entirely based on emotions of the "victim". If someone cuts you up and you flip them off then that's a hate crime if they decide you did it because they're a woman or whatever.
We're on very opposite sides of the fence here. I've seen what diversity did to my home town and I want no part of it. Wanting the government to enforce it is fucked up though. I did the same thing when I was in my teens and 20s. Exact same thing and I fought tooth and nail with my father over these things. As I got older and more experienced I understood why my father had the opinions he did and now we agree on most things. You don't know what you don't know and you're intentionally mislead. As you grow up your opinions will mature and experience will teach you how silly you were/are. Everyone went through the same phases and it's a healthy part of growing up. Every year it gets worse and no one wants to point out they invited multiple hostile ethnic groups to the same area who want to kill each other.
