CN wants to have a quick turnaround with their shows, whilst keeping 2 or 3 as staples around to keep making consistent money. See, shows make the most money during their first season, when they first debut and people are watching it to see if it's good or not, and second season, because the fans want to stay with it and are excited to see more. After the 3rd season, ratings start to drop.
They planned to kill Steven Universe after the 2nd season. Problem is that it got far more popular than they were willing to let it be, it forced its way into their staple shows and now they are stuck with something that they don't want to promote, but at the same time, can't cancel, because they now have the SJW's and the entire LGBT community breathing down their necks and they don't want to be seen as homophobes.
So, they are trying to kill it softly by giving it the worst timeslots and never promoting it. They want the valid excuse to kill it. How the fuck it got a movie, i will never know.
