I dont want to hate this movie but something about it just feels wrong and it's mostly coming from Brie Larson.

She's nothing like Carol at all. Not even nu-Carol.

Why the hell did Marvel even hire her? I used to think that Hollywood intentionally hiring average looking women in their blockbusters to appease less-than-attractive feminists and progressives as a joke. Yet, it's the only reason I can think of that makes sense for why Larson got the lead role for a high budget Hollywood film involving one of the most popular franchises at the moment.

I'm looking forward to this movie but more because of all the background stuff with it being a prequel rather than for Captain Marvel herself. I want to see young Coulson and Fury. I want to learn about the war between the Kree and Skrulls. I want to see what made Ronan go from a loyal Kree soldier to a violent extremist. I want to see Nick Fury lose his eye.

I dont think the problem is with Larson. In the other stuff I've seen her in she's fine and emotes well enough.
