The guy plays le edgy nihilistic type, but in a PC way. Everything he is contrarian about is something that is comedically-acceptable to be "funnily contrarian about".
(government, disrespect for life, religion, torturing his siblings, etc)
And although the only moralfagging that comes to mind is punching a nazi, I just know by the way the character is written that there are so many things he would be moral about.
I can't picture him being *actually* amoral and edgy, if only because the writers would get lynched if they went there.
This wouldn't have happened when Harmon was obscurer, and he actually went to really edgy places, albeit unfunnilly
If he ever saw anyone raping someone or segregating based on skin colour he would go all "oh no, that's not cool, man, that's a line you wouldn't want to cross", and make the whole point that "even I am not that amoral, man"
It's supposedly written to have some despicable traits, yet a two minute Duckman rant about political correctness is far more provocative than burping and shooting aliens saying life isn't worth shit
