It’s beginning to look a lot like /co/hristmas.
The days grow colder, the nights grow longer. That means /co/ Christmas cheer is coming to town. Grab some cocoa, turn on the Christmas music, get comfy, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.
As previous years, share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. Be sure to gift another Anon in return so we can spread the cheer far and wide.
Last year we had 180 gifted anons, some more than once.

I'm almost finished this year as I always left things to the last minute. Now I've only got a couple to get.
>>104395661 I know right? It's a bloody pain. And I hit up Black Friday and got stuff in early - which went well until I got an order cancelled for no reason and I'm at a loss what to get the old man.
>>104395698 Money and gift cards, while nice in a choose your own sort of way do feel really impersonal, like zero effort. I have a relative who does that every year and I spend ages picking them out something. They just whack money in an envelope. i'm thankful of course, but still.
>>104395752 That's the worse when that happens! I got a game for my brother and on about the 17th he tells me he went and got it himself. Very annoying.

Quoted By:
>>104395829 In my case I don't consider gift cards that.
I have eclectic tastes, and a number of things I like I get during sales throughout the year.
Family members get me gift cards so they know I'll get something I like.
I do make normal lists when they ask, and they definitely try in that case.

>>104391891 The first 7 volumes are the original series, so if you're only interested in that you could get the first 2 3-in-1s and then just volume 7 I would imagine. The different games instead of just being Duel Monsters every time is pretty neat though.

>>104395642 Got my mom something, but still need to get my dad, brother, and his fiance. Plenty early for that, though.
>>104395752 Had that happen before. Brother moved into a new house, I was standing in line about to buy him a nice new tool set so he could do some work on the house. He called me on the phone, I was like so what are you doing "nothing just at the store buying a tool set". Same one.
>>104395829 I feel like if you're going to go that route, just do money, or the visa credit cards or w/e that are accepted everywhere, but gift cards to specific stores always struck me as odd. "Here's $25, but you have to spend it at this store, no where else!" Why? It makes sense for something like say a gift certificate to a restaurant, because what you're really gifting them is a night out.
So, what's some stuff people are hoping Santa brings them this year?

When someone asks me and I truly don't know what I want or need, I'd rather have someone give me a gift card (no money except it's my mom who's giving it to me) than spending their money for something I won't like or don't need.
maybe you also only think of gift cards for physical items. my girlfriend got me a gift card for a massage parlour this year and I was happy as hell because I wasn't expecting that at all and I am literally always in need of a good old massage. you can also give gift cards for events like concerts, thermal baths, etc. and actually join the person who you give it to

SHEOL
>>104400664 My guess would be that we all go through crap on the daily and as a result it's easy to get shitty and bitchy with anonymous people on an image board to vent and make ourselves feel a little better.
Yet when the Christmas threads roll around, it's like people want an excuse to do something nice. I'm not getting all Charlie Brown up in here, but with so much shit going on, it's nice to be able to change things for the better for some random person who you know will appreciate it. Scribs looked at my list, saw a digital manga version. Went to look at the price to buy.

This series of events made it so that in my list it showed as purchased, even though the book wasn't purchased for me (the system apparently deciding Scribs buying the book meant he was buying it for me.)

Bit early for a shit show, ain't it? Here's my hot take: Does your list have to be strictly /co/ items? No. Should it have at least some /co/ items? Yeah, probably. Is it wrong to have expensive stuff on your list? Not at all, but if your list is strictly expensive items can you really expect someone to gift you? Do you have to repost your list every thread? No, but it's nice to know people are actively celebrating the season with us. It's sad that some people are so greedy they feel the need to post multiple lists, surely without the intention of giving back. I'm not saying that's what's happening now, but it has happened in the past. People were saying earlier how nice it is to come to these threads and hang out, spread holiday cheer, and all that, but when we start fighting amongst ourselves it really puts a damper on things. If there's a list that doesn't seem right to you, don't gift it. If there's a poster who seems to be trolling, ignore them. Hopefully this ugliness doesn't follow us to the next thread. Here's a Christmas-y Dex-Starr to make your spirits bright.

Agreed, tho the problem is when those lists end up on the pastebin without the context of the actual thread, no? I've been picking people to gift based on their being on the ungifted list, with one exception. Krypto and the Space Canine Patrol Agency

But there is something nice about getting a present from someone while completely anonymous with them knowing nothing to separate you from any of the other lists. Just from pure wanting to give a gift not cause they saw me posting or liked talking to me simply the pure spirit of giving. Sounds kind of weird and autistic when I type it out now actually but whatever.

I'll be going to a local retail store to leave my CV. Some time ago they were looking for "Seasonal Colleagues" and while they took the poster down a few weeks back, they said to bring it anyway. I have good two years' worth of experience in retail, so hopefully I'll be up for consideration if there's an opening. Although that means that I'm hoping somebody's shit at their job and will get the boot soon. Oh well, send some positive vibes my way anyhow.

My little input would probably be that people could try to put some items on the list which are from /co/. Remove expensive items? Nope. Have lots of other stuff on the lists? Why not? I just started visiting these threads last year but it sure is nice to buy from lists where I notice that the people do in fact share our "hobby"
