New generation of characters, but all the old cast is around in mentor roles or cameos. Even get the Starlight girls all in there from time to time. Jerrica and Pizzazz have something close to a friendship, still strained just due to Pizzazz being on the slow road to being a better person. But old rivalries flair up when they both start mentoring new up and coming talent, who themselves develop a deep rivalry.
Other than that, keep it outrageous. EVERYTHING in the old show happened, so references to it are just part of their lives and the culture (Like Jem's movie being a huge hit the year it came out). I could go on about it for a long time, but I basically want to continue, but start fresh, like any soft reboot.
