American studios are leeches, a bunch of dumbass producers let in by nepotism with the worst hunches possible towards filmmaking, if you're not American or at least British (in some cases, Mexican) you're not getting free control.
Just look at John Woo, the guy completely molded the way action films are made and edited nowadays and yet he had no control whatsoever for his american flicks (only case being Face/Off which is pretty much the only good american film he made and it was pretty shit compared to what he made in Hong Kong).
