I think one of the worst issues I have with comics like Ms. Marvel is that they completely and entirely gloss over every significant aspect of Islam, and reduce it to literally "Haha, they're just like you and me, except they can't eat bacon, haha."
We could have actually had interesting stories where a character's upbringing conflicts with their hero persona, but instead we're just supposed to unthinkingly accept that someone who unironically worships a genocidal child rapist is also a hero, and there's nothing contradictory about that at all.
