Not this shit again.
It's not about superpowers, it's about diversity and exclusion. Any random Joe could walk into a vat of chemicals and gain superpowers. Superpowered humans are still humans, you could become just like them at any time. Just like you could become a millionaire or could fuck a hot model. It won't happen, but it's technically possible.
If you aren't born a mutant you aren't a mutant. They're not just people with superpowers. They're a new and upgraded version of humanity. A new humanity that will inherit the earth. And it may happen during your lifetime.
That is why people hate them. Mutants are there to tell people that their life is even more meaningless than they thought.
That is why people fear them. It's not the physical danger presented by their powers. It
's the existential threat that their mere existence represent. >gods and aliens and you mean to tell me they suddenly go "Filthy mutie go home!"?
because gods and aliens are gods and aliens. They aren't a replacement for humanity.
And this isn't something I'm saying. Mutants are superior to humans an must dominate the world was the core belief of the Brotherhood.> why can't there be a school for people who just wnt to learn how to control their powers
Originally Xavier made the x-school to train an elite group to protect the world ROM EVIL MUTANTS. His belief is that mutants and humans should live together, so he left most mutants alone unless they needed help or were a danger.
A mutant homeland was actually Magneto's idea. Xavier was against segregation.
So his school was not to train all mutants. Just a small group of soldiers. If someone needed help they'd find them teach them how to use their powers and then let them go.
Morrison fucked up by making it be an actual school and have all mutants live in the same place.
