you don't usually have to tell people this when they start a job because they do what they're told. then when they have their own register, your manager will take you to the back office and make sure that everything is in the clear before you leave. so if jimmy had just done what he was asked he would have figured out why he needed to use a register at the end of his shift. jimmy is supposed to be a genius, so it's odd that he wouldn't know a register is used to keep a record of what's sold.
