After he left and Fabian Nicieza came on with the whole Revanche story, Nicieza didn't know and put in some story of how Betsy and Revanche swapped bodies when they touched. Then he did to go back on that and say that Betsy was body-swapped by Spiral and the Hand.
Revanche died with Betsy's white body, but Claremont wanted to have her return to it when he killed her in X-treme X-Men. Editorial didn't allow, and over the years there have been all these teases of "will she get back her old look?". Guess they've finally gone to that.
