Another thing to remember is that lightsabers are essentially laser chainsaws. They dont have a single solid edge, they have fast moving high-energy particles acting like 'teeth' as they loop to the tip of the 'blade' and back. And like chainsaws, they bounce off objects they could easily cut through if you aren't properly braced for the recoil, if you strike at a weird angle or too fast or two slow.
It's like in an rpg if you gave a lv1. Character an endgame weapon the end result is still a character that would be weak even by mid-game standards and could easily be out damaged by a mid-game character with a mid-game weapon since they also have fancy attack techniques and have more options than ATTACK/DEFEND/RUN
