>>103279501As time goes on, I become more and more convinced that Richard C. Meyer is the Anita Sarkeesian of comic books.
He is an entirely self-created monster for the industry. His criticisms are shoddy, often superficial, lazy, and focused entirely on identity politics as an argument. The man would not be compelling were it not for the fact that so many industry figures and fans kept on losing their goddamned minds over him.
Like Sarkeesian, his actual content just isn't that interesting. His channel gets about 10,000 - 15,000 views, practically nothing, but he's got a small core of true believers that will donate to him hand over fist because they support his message and delude themselves into thinking the content is actually good or worthwhile.
But again, we can't really blame Sarkeesian. We can't really blame Meyer. Because while they're both idiots, they are goddamned masterminds compared to the figures in their respective industries and the idiot fans of those industries. While idiots, they have built careers on embarrassing and outplaying even bigger imbeciles.
Everything would have been fine if broken manchildren like Mark Waid or Robbie Rodriguez learned to ignore some rando making ten minute long youtube videos on his phone about how he's not adequately thrilled about shit comics.
