Questionable Content isn't aberrant like some comics. It's bland, it's slow, it's not well written, the art's not amazing, but it exists in its own little vacuum of nothing ever happening. I don't resent it earning money.
What I do resent are comics like "Sinfest", whose income has continued to incline even as the creator shut down his own forum to stamp out dissent from his originally die-hard feminist readers. Turns out his forum was third wave, and the author is second wave, so they hate each other. But yet his Patreon keeps on going up.
I also hate the "reaction" channels, and the half-baked review blogs Youtube is promoting, becuase they likewise pull more Patreon money than most skilled artists could hope for in a lifetime.
I'm convinced that financial success in the media world has nothing to do with quality or how many people you affect positively. Garfield isn't a bizarre outlier, it's the absolute rule. Continue to blandly fart in a public space on a regular schedule, and as long as you've already succeeded and people know your work, you can't fail.
