Also you're probably going to want to go ahead and look up the works of Garth Ennis. If you're actually /k/ then you've probably seen his Punisher stuff storytimed, but he's got a massive body of war comics. I'd also recommend:

Dirty Pair (American comic drawn in manga/anime style about half naked bitches killing motherfuckers in the future. Fun shit.)

Evangeline (mercenary nun in space)

Godzilla In Hell (yes, it's real, and it's exactly what it sounds like)

Grimjack (gun for hire works in a city that's at the point of convergence of all universes in the multiverse)

Jon Sable, Freelance (80s Soldier of Fortune type has a hard life, is more James Bond than James Bond, gets bitches, glamorized as fuck)

American Flagg! (Howard Chaykin revolutionizes American comics in this influential sci-fi comic that's as much about Chaykin's weird lingerie fetish as it is about anything else, lol)

Mister X (THE most unique vision in American comics. A world unlike any other where the city itself is the most important character in the series. Volume 1 is a must read. Volumes 2 and 3 are optional. The revival over the last several years is IMO the best material after the first volume.)

Luther Strode (Ultra gory action series about secret martial arts training techniques that grant inhuman abilities. The first 2 miniseries are solid. The 3rd is weak, but whatever.)

The Punisher (The miniseries "Welcome Back, Frank" and the Garth Ennis authored MAX stuff is the easiest to get into, but the Chuck Dixon run from the 90s is cool, too, and the Mike Baron written stuff in the late 80s started out really well.)

Gunsmith Cats (aka "/k/: The Manga". No media has ever treated firearms as lovingly as this. It's absolutely gun porn and it's beautiful. My personal favorite comic. I think the original issues that Dark Horse released in the 90s were left-to-right, so try to find scans of those if you can.)

Black Lagoon (Super-over-the-top action series. Tons of fun. Lots of guns.)

Conan (The Marvel stuff from the 70s is great, but the best is the first series that Dark Horse published in the 2000s, simply titled "Conan". I seriously think this is objectively probably the pinnacle of the entire comics medium. Absolutely perfect storytelling with the most fitting art you could ever imagine. It has a direct sequel called "Conan the Cimmerian", which you should also read.)

Planetary (The basic concept is "what if every work of fiction of the 20th century co-existed together in the same world?" One of the best comics of the last 20 years. If you like high concept sci-fi then you should love this.)

Battlefields (Garth Ennis authored series of miniseries about WWII)

War Stories 1 & 2 (Series of WWII stories by Garth Ennis. I would not recommend the ongoing series from recent years with the same name. It was also written by garth Ennis, but I felt that the writing was mediocre.)

Adventures in the Rifle Brigade (crude WWII comedy by Garth Ennis)

Fury MAX - My War Gone By (Ultra explicit Cold War story with some of the biggest gut punch emotional moments in the history of American comics. Arguably THE best American comic of the 2010s.)

Ronin (dystopian sci-fi with everything and the kitchen sink)

Sin City (noir-porn turned up to 11)

Scout (Post-apocalyptic sci-fi from the late 80s. Army Ranger sees a vision that the president is a demon and disguise and goes AWOL to assassinate the president. NOT POLTICAL AT ALL DESPITE WHAT THAT DESCRIPTION MIGHT LEAD YOU TO ASSUME. One of the best post-apocalyptic stories ever in any medium. Make sure you read it in this order: Scout #1-24, Scout: Swords of Texas #1-4, Scout: New America #1-4, Scout: War Shaman #1-16.)

Area 88 (Glorified fighter jet porn. The Viz/Eclipse versions from the 80s are left-to-right, so look for scans of those.)

Blueberry (European cowboy comic set in America in the 1800s. Shouldn't be too hard to find scans of the English translations.)

The Bluecoats (cartoony American Civil War comic made by the French)

Team Yankee (Obscure miniseries from the 80s about America and the Soviet Union starting WWIII. Based on a book. Worth reading if you can find scans of it.)

Hitman (Hitmen in Gotham City. Some superheroes show up a couple times, but it's really NOT a "superhero comic". THE best character writing in the history of comics. An absolute must read.)

Manifest Destiny ("What if Lewis and Clark's expedition was actually cover for a mission to exterminate Lovecraftian monsters?" 0% historically accurate, but a solid entertaining series. Currently ongoing.)

Foolkiller (The Steve Gerber authored miniseries. This is about a vigilante in the Marvel Universe, but it's not at all what I'd call a "superhero comic". It's basically about a random guy trying to kill criminals and destroying his own life in the process. Brilliant writing and one of the best stories Marvel ever published.)

Maybe look into The Goon from Dark Hose by Eric Powell.
Had a crossover issue with Hellboy, but then again what hasn't.

And pretty well known comic so we easy to find scans or online reads of.

You people really need to let go of this Manichean bullshit you're on.

Anyway, if you've never read it I'd recommend Garth Ennis's runs on Punisher, especially his MAX run. Also his Nick Fury mini-series "The Man Who Loved The War" from 2000 or so, or his recent "My War Gone By" series.

Fair. I guess in media it's rare for me to see characters with fallibility and more character elements than their one diverse defining feature.
Like I said it's pretty good stuff, just unusual to me in this medium (Ok I am a noob in comics) to encounter something with humans rather than ideals. It's quite well written aside from that monkey.

Yeah, Predator still kills people. He's the antagonist in the story and the ending is even crazier than the premise.

A comic I liked was Kayin and Abeni. It takes place in the future and is about a pair of cousins seeking revenge on the people who killed their clan. The artist grew up in Africa, so I like the contrast the tribal-sci fi thing has going on.

You may enjoy Guerrillas by Brahm Revel. It follows a group of american soldiers in Vietnam, but also there's genetically modified apes on the battlefield. It's got kickass artwork, visceral battles, and great, snappy pacing.
