Think about it: As soon as the local mafia backed out of Gotham, what happened? A surge of costumed criminals appeared and started taking over. But it wasn't localized to Gotham; they started appearing in Metropolis, Star City, Central City, even Hub City (notice a pattern with the names?) gets hit up from time to time. Every time a costumed hero appears, a slew of villains rises up to keep the game going. And now things have escalated to the point where the "entire Earth" is getting hit by some "alien invasion" every other Wednesday! How can we, as a race, as a species be so blind to what's clearly going on?
