Fuuuuck, I really hate that Netflix is starting to reel in their series and we keep getting short, almost preview-like seasons like this. The show was just starting to really ramp up then it cuts off.
I'm genuinely impressed with how much world building and characterization they managed in just 9 episodes. I think my least favorite thing about it is Viren -- I kept thinking "Okay, maybe there will be some deeper reason for what he-- oh, no, okay he's just an evil vizier."
Maybe they'll make him more complex later but as it is, he just seems conniving in a kind of unconvincingly evil way.
Anyway, for Season 2 I think we need a minimum of 12 episodes but ideally I'd like to see 24, even if they have to release it in a more standard weekly format. These writers are fantastic at slow burn stories so I'd like to see them have room to let characters and stories breathe.
They also need to fix the janky ass stop-motion that shows up any time the action slows down. It's awful. I don't care if it was intentional or a budget issue, it needs fixed.
