>>102995293There was a ton of lore in the first year. Vi as an entity is an abomination summoned forth by Sumner Redstone, and his associated channel-tans were either adoptees from other companies (Nickelodeon was a rescue from Warner when she was still an infant, Pinwheel) or other creatures summoned forth from whatever Lovecraftian void Viacom came from. There was also some ongoing lore with CBS and Viacom constantly brushing against the idea of "remarrying," having to do with real world merger talks, to the disgruntlement of Nick @ Nite, who was the chosen mother-figure of the Viacom family.
The other companies either had their channel-tans "organically," (Warner mostly, Ted Turner "had" all his children) or simply created/bought them (Disney). The Fox family was more or less a 00 Agent-type spy organization, and so on. Most of them still operated as families, but with their own specific quirks.
That's a really simplified version of just that aspect of them. There's stuff like Jetix originally being Fox Kids, bought by Disney, and being remade into a cyborg with muddied memories. Adult Swim Fox, or "Foxxy" (which I guess would be defunct now) was sad about seeing her sister blocks (Miguzi, Tickle U) constantly discontinued. TeenNick was an identity-crisis riddled girl who was originally Noggin, then The N, and finally Teen Nick, who was depressed over the loss of her bird (from her Noggin days) which is what led her from child's programming to more dramatic and emotional teenage programming, and then into trying her best to be an optimist despite her programming as she tries to recover from her depression riddled early teen years.
And on and on and on.
